Van Ommering Dairy offers a behind the scene look at where your milk comes from. Their tractor pulled wagons will take you through the free stall barns that house their herd of dairy cows. You will stop at the maternity pen, where life as a cow on the farm begins. Farmers will explain how they recycle and reuse the waste water through a series of algae ponds, using that water to irrigate the feed they grow for our cows. A stop at the commodity barn will show all the different feeds they give to their cows. Going into the milking parlor, they will demonstrate how the cows are washed before each milking, and you will get the opportunity see the milking process happening. The tour will conclude with time for you to ask questions of the farmers.
There will be plenty of signage for parking, so simply follow the signs. The farmers ask that you stay with your group and not venture off on your own.
